What it's all about

Woodman's Wild Ale specialises in beers brewed with seasonal and wild plants, with a particular interest in the use of wild yeasts and bacteria in producing sour and farmhouse ales. We brew both historical and modern styles, taking inspiration from different countries brewing traditions and our surroundings in the beautiful countryside of Cornwall.

Our beers are available in keg, cask and bottle and we also run foraging walks and brew days, as well as food and beer pairing events throughout the year

Wild at Heart

Nature is at the heart of our beers, from the use of foraged ingredients and wild yeasts to barrel ageing and working with the seasons.

We believe in working in harmony with nature and being as environmentally responsible, sensitive and sustainable as possible.

Giving back to nature is just as important to us and to this end our spent grain goes to feed animals or is used as compost along with spent hops, which in the future will provide nutrients to grow our own hops. We donate a percentage of our profits to charities such as the RSPB, Greenpeace and Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

Going forward we aim to plant a number of trees each year, not only to provide us with more ingredients for our beers but also to help offset our carbon footprint.

Brewery expansion

We received a Grant from the BIG2 Project funded from the ERDF as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020 which partly funded a new 500 litre brew kit which we commissioned in December 2018.  We aim to use the initially to produce 500 litres batches of ale each week.  The new equipment will help us to expand our customer base both  within Cornwall and outside the county.
